In this picture you can see an ozog on the right hand and the pomiotlo (long-hand broom) on the left. An ozog is a kind of long stick by means of you poke at the embers to light a fire in the oven. When the fire dies down the embers are swept out of the oven and the floor of the oven is mopped with a damp mop. A rag (sometimes a straw) on the end of a stick is an example of traditional mops. It helps to clean the oven.

The embers and ash are removed from the oven with the long-hand wooden board called pociosek (or kosiorek in other parts of our country). Before sweeping the embers out you must wet the pociosek. In this way the pociosek will never be on fire.
