High school students think:
Marysia Chlopek: Nowadays bread is a different thing for every person. For my friends it is only food. For me – it is not, because I have been brought up in a very religious family. That is why bread is something more then food to me. It is also a symbol of faith and peacemaking on Christmas Eve.
I respect bread very much. The whole family tries not to throw out bread. For me it is normal that when bread falls down, while picking it up I kiss it. Although I have to confess that I don’t do it always, especially in school, because I am ashamed of it. I don’t want my friends to laugh at me. When I was young, my mother always told me to make the sign of the cross before cutting the loaf. Now I always remember to do this.
Bread as wafer should also be mentioned. On Christmas Eve, when the whole family meets, wafers always are on the table. It is a beautiful moment when we split the wafer and wish everyone the best. Often in my home in that moment people cried because of the happiness, that we had each other and that we could meet once again. Every quarrel is forgotten.

Patryk Zuralski: Unfortunately in these times bread isn’t treated with such respect as it used to be in the past. At least that is what I can tell from my observations of my environment and my own approach to this food. Most of us treat bread as normal and primary food.
