Bread associates also with holidays, especially Christmas Eve because we split wafers and wish everyone the best. During the holidays, almost my whole family comes for this moment.
The bread that is with us also on the dinner on Christmas Eve with all those delicious meals, and also between them there is bread.

Paulina Bator: Bread in my family is very important. We eat it every day. My favourites are toasts. They are the best when it comes to breakfast with cocoa or second breakfast at school. Though it isn’t just food. My parents and grandparents always reminded me to have great respect for bread because it is the symbol of Christ’s flesh. I have never thrown out bread.
I heard that before cutting the loaf you should make the sign of the cross. In my family we don’t do it but I think that this is a great custom. The same great custom is kissing bread when it falls down. My grandparents always do that.
Christmas holidays are the best time to show what bread means to us. In our group we split wafers and wish everyone the best. We do it honestly, and we have to eat every piece of the wafer so that not one would be wasted.
I hope that everybody has a bit of respect to bread because it is a very important symbol in our culture.
