Some people to this day have a special respect and almost religious approach to bread. It is treated like a symbol of wealth.

In our nations beliefs bread is treated like Gods gift, living being or an image of God himself. In the past it was a custom that bread was always on the table.

It symbolised the wealth of the home, unceasing readiness to greet guests, the symbol of Gods protection and protection against unclean forces.

It was commonly known that in bread there was strength, health and success. If a slice fell down on the floor people would kiss it and eat or burn it.
